Granite- The Country Before Winter, describes the forest, a mystic landscape, as a place of creative silence and loneliness, where the photographic language has become an irresistible dedication of love by the author. He knows, like barely anyone, the forest’s withdrawn landscape with its beauty that more and more people are being drawn to lately. The author has spent years exploring the woods through his camera, discovering hidden away guesthouses, lighting the edgy faces of those living in the forest and narrow snuggeries. His photographs capture the tough everyday life of farmers. His images are silent narratives, ethnic prose, that document – without pathos – a disappearing world.
The “Country Before Winter” is a spiritual internalization of the people, the woods, the rocks and of a great silence. When looking at it and when experiencing his storytelling, it seems right to finally let go and allow the things to happen which are meant to happen.
