"Everything we see hides another thing, we always want to see what is hidden by what we see. There is an interest in that which is hidden and which the visible does not show us. This interest can take the form of a quite intense feeling, a sort of conflict, one might say, between the visible that is hidden and the visible that is present." -René Magritte
Photography duo Albarrán Cabrera uses photography as a tool to investigate reality. The images that make up their latest book ‘Photography Syntax’, function as the notebooks of their philosophical research. Together with the texts, the photographs testify to the use of photographic processes as a means of going deeper into the reasons and thoughts behind the images. "In this book, we explain why we like to produce our own images using a wide range of photographic processes and why we use the photographic medium as a learning tool. It also delves into the resonances and thoughts behind the images that make up our various series, some of which have never been published before." -Albarrán Cabrera
