Peter Piller is a German artist who archives, rephotographs and recombines found images. In Umschläge, which translates as “covers”,  he reproduces the front and back cover of the magazine Armeerundschau published for the East German armed forces from 1956 to 1990. Each cover portrays a piece of military hardware or combatants while the back cover a pin-up.  The project was included in a major retrospective of Piller’s work at the Fotomuseum Winterthur.
