Quest For Identity is a photographic collection of personal effects unearthed from mass graves in the aftermath of the Bosnian War. Ziyah Gafic, renowned Bosnian photojournalist, has dedicated himself to cataloging the thousands of items left behind: a well-worn watch, a rosary, wallet photos, and so on—in hopes that someone might recognize the remnants of their loved ones, and as a last, permanent reminder of those lost in the genocide. This project transcends the long, painful process of identification into an artistic statement.
