Useful guide to the properties of the “New Jungle” residential area in Calais. The “New Jungle” is a large residential area of around 500,000m2 situated in the outskirts of Calais, France. Surrounded by a 5 meters-high metallic fence and equipped with running water and lights, the “New Jungle” offers different typologies of housing, both old and newly built, commercial spaces, schools, mosques and a church. New neighbourhoods are built constantly, while old ones get demolished to let the new ones arise.
