Paolo Gasparini was born in Gorizia, Italy in 1934 and nationalised as Venezuelan in 1954. As a photographer, his work portraying the cultural tensions andcontradictions of the American continent is one of themost compelling.

The exhibition and catalogue that is presented by MAPFRE Foundation propose a journey of six decades ofhis photographic career where an itinerary through thelandscape of the ever-changing and diverse cities like Caracas, La Habana, Sao Paulo or Mexico echo Munich, Paris, Madrid or London. The catalogue comprises essays by María Wills, curator if the exhibition, Horacio Fernández, Antonio Muñoz Molina and Juan Villoro aswell as a biography of Gasparini by Sagrario Berti.
