Wild Children is a continuation of Osamu Yokonami’s Children series, in which the photographer uses a consistent and minimal set-up: children are asked to balance a piece of fruit or a vegetable between their head and shoulder. In this volume, the object is a red apple.

The book brings together photographs of children who began to cry during the sessions. Some are shown in the middle of an outburst, others just after, with traces of tears still visible. Through this focus, Wild Children documents unguarded moments and variations of expression, while maintaining the direct, frontal style characteristic of the series.
