In ‘Garden’ the Vienna-based British artist and bookbinder Larissa Cox has created a handbound book whose pages contain a wilderness of tangled branches, undergrowth and mysterious woodland foliage through which a path to a hidden garden can be found; the gradual meeting of the wild and the tamed. It is a multilayered collage based upon her own nature photography and has been intricately cut away by hand to create a three-dimensional world in paper. This scene can still be seen when the book is closed, thanks to the innovative ‘window’ in the front cover which provides a frame on this miniature world; when the book is opened, all the pages can be turned and a ‘walk’ through the book is possible.
