21 Years of Portraits from the Family Album. For more than twenty years, Lucy Hilmer has been mailing her annual family Valentine card to just about everyone her family knew. That's hundreds of people and a whole lot of stamps. Many of the recipients have become avid collectors, sometimes contacting her years later to get specific cards missing from their collections. Others move, get dropped from the list, and then demand to be put back on. Over the years, she has discovered that her Valentine - a classic B&W portrait of her daughter, Annie, in an ever-changing relationship to a rose and some abstracted portion of her black-sweatered dad - is a hot item."Annie cards" are all over the world now, archived in albums, stuck on refrigerator doors, pinned on bulletin boards in all sorts of offices. Finally, this book was published as a kind of time-lapse, stop-motion flower film. And you can send it as one of your Valentine gifts to the people you love!
