by Lourdes Delgado

Publisher: h2o Galeria

Year: 2010

Price: 25

Comments: Hardcover, Spanish and English

In Lourdes Delgado's Chants to Nature one can find a unique correspondence between the tactile character of nature elements and the correlative nature of the photographic image. To achieve it, the artist uses the wet plate collodion process, a technique invented in 1851, which dominated photography for thirty years, and uses it now with the awareness of the importance of the history of photographic techniques for a renewed interpretation from a contemporary stance.

Her project, conceived as a perplex chant in front of nature, is developed on diptychs, triptychs, compositions of four, nine and twelve plates of almost 4 x 5 inches. The plates are juxtaposed without apparent direct relationship in an experimental, free, integrating, figurative and abstract way all at the same time.

This first edition of 500 copies is in a vertical format. The images are beautifully printed in duotone, which emulate the luminescence and physical qualities of the original tintypes.
