So, how should I go about? And where, first of all, should I start? Then I suddenly remembered reading on a poster I passed: ‘Munich- City with a heart.’ That could only be a good omen. So I set off immediately. But without the right preparation, a conquest like this could soon end up a frustrating affair! Another one of Mozzarella’s sayings: ‘Fly like a tiger, land as a rug.’ Before going on stage, one should master one’s forces and try to realise who one is, what one is capable of and what one has at hand. So let’s go on. First of all, I’m as strong as a lion. Second, I excel at pinching sausages. Third, being a model has earned me good money and great wheels. But despite these incalculable advantages, I was, however, not so sure about myself anymore. What would I say at all when should stands there in front of me at last? Better take a swig first, to give me some courage. Unfortunately, they have such large glasses in Munich that after one glass, I got so drunk and everything around me began to turn and turn and turn. I could not distinguish between an artificial tree and a real one. How embarrassing! It was clear, thank God, that I could not face my great love in such a state. Only a nap would help to get me sobered up again. Tomorrow’s another day, I comforted myself. A new day brings new chances. Everything was back in position again and I gathered new strength. Today I’m going to find her, the woman of my dreams. I was prepared to search the city into the last corner for the heart that beats the same rhythm as mine. All that was needed was to keep the eyes focussed. A little help from the outside would be very welcome. As well as a little tutoring in patience. But where exactly should I look? I decided to do some reconnaissance first. From the roof of the Olympic stadium I looked in all directions. And what did I see there at the back? Such an enormous green space in the middle of the city? Looked promising, and it didn’t take long before I reached this big field, which my master calls ‘English garden’. I noticed a number of interesting smells. But soon I was certain- she wasn’t one of them (One just knows these things). Also at my next stop, the Cuvilliés Theatre, where, according to Toni, one can always find fine women, proved to be false alarm. But despite these setbacks, I didn’t think of giving up. As Mozzarella always said : ‘Where there’s a will, there’s a way. My route took me along an important facades, original Munich heritage and other sights. But at some stage, even the strongest of wills cannot help. I was dog tired and could think of only one thing- taking a nap. Exhausted form all the new impressions, I dozed off on the cool pavement. I dreamed of a beautiful dog sitting on a stork. What could this possibly mean? But even before I could think about it, she’d disappeared again. After my siesta I took the road again. This time I tried the Königsplatz. Something from the right corner of my eye caught my attention. At first I though I was mistaken or that I was still asleep. But then all of a sudden it hit me. This was real. There she was, lying in the grass, the woman of my dreams, looking at me. Oh, those eyes! I felt weak in the knees, but quickly gathered my wits about me and walked towards her. To my amazement, I was able to introduce myself without stuttering. And fortunately it occurred to me how I could persuade Jessica-as she was called- to come with me: a sausage picnic in the park. Then I invited her on a romantic tour in a fabled coach and at night, it was also only the best: only a suite in one of the top hotels would do. Munich is beautiful by night. But life as a dog has it’s good sides too. Especially when one does not have to howl at the moon alone!
