Entrevistas is about looking at the city of São Paulo from the point of view of it’s inhabitants. The images are an intriguing combination of portraits, of interiors and of city views seen through the windows of this gigantic megalopolis. As the name suggests EntreVistas is about looking between views and being able to see simultaneously the city and the interiors.

Sobre São Paulo was produced between 2011 and 2012. It took four helicopter rides and ten outings to rooftops, among them the traditional Fiesp and Martinelli buildings and the new Santander tower. “I am not a documentarian, my approach is artistic and I wanted to produce work that would showcase the difficulty in visualizing the spatial dimension of the city. São Paulo is exorbitant in size, frontiers are lost, and photographing from the pedestrian’s point of view makes no sense. For this reason I opted for a point of view which is frontal, aerial and distant. I carried out montages and combinations of the photographic material, creating panoramic images that extend as though unrolling a tangled ball of city. This led to the idea of making a book with accordion folds. The mapping is subjective; what I want to transmit is the sensation of immensity and complexity of this city,” explains Claudia.
